Have you ever found that living day by day as a Christian can be frustrating at times? We just wish we could be "better Christians". Almost 2000 years ago Paul faced that same situation but he told us that there was a way of victory through Jesus Christ. Nowadays we hear a lot about "split personality". We even know something of it in our own lives. Our mind and heart tell us what we should do, yet our hands and feet decide to do the opposite. As someone has said, "Good resolutions don't seem to help." Like Paul exclaimed, "I don't understand myself at all, for I really want to do what is right, but I can't. I do what I don't want to do - what I hate."(v.15 Living Bible) What or who can help us? The law as seen in the Old Testament often leaves us with a feeling of guilt and failure. Even if we could keep all the law, we would still be a sinner needing a Saviour. Who can help us? "Thank God, it has been done by Jesus Christ our Lord. He has set us free." (v.25, Lvg.B.) Here is the wonderful difference between the Gospel and all other so called religions. We have a living, powerful person, Jesus Christ, who lives within us. He is willing. He is waiting to give us the power needed for daily living. He can take away the struggle and the frustration and we will know the victory we want and need. What more could we ask for? Christ has won for us victory over the power of our old sinful nature. Will you ask Him today to help you understand these wonderful truths, to help you believe them, and experience them in your daily living? |
