What is the seed? In the Gospel of Luke, Christ said the seed is the Word of God. That is why it is so important for it to be sown wherever and whenever possible. It is the only seed which can ever produce an eternal harvest. The seed, the Word of God, is remarkable. It can be sown in so many ways. It can be sown by the spoken voice. It can be read in a tract or from a portion of Scripture. It can be communicated in a dozen or more ways. The Word is what God had promised to bless. The Psalmist called it 'precious seed'. What is the application of all of this to us today? Very simply, someone, a parent, a Sunday school teacher, a pastor, an evangelist, a tract, sowed the seed of the Word of God in our hearts. How many times did we hear it before we allowed it to grow? Then one day someone else added some more seed or watered that which was there. The Word of God began to do its work in our heart, and finally we saw our position as a sinner and accepted Christ. All because someone sowed some seed. Now in turn, can't we pass on that seed? Can't we place the Word in someone else's life? That is our privilege and responsibility. Are we being faithful to our opportunity? The field is there, waiting. We have the seed. What are we doing with it? |
