27到一個童女那裡,是已經許配大衛家的一個人,名叫約瑟。童女的名字叫馬利亞;

A BELIEVING MOTHER - WHAT AN ASSET IN A HOME!
Day 30

Bible Reading:

Luke 1:26-38

26 Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth,

27 to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin's name was Mary.

28 And having come in, the angel said to her, "Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!"

29 But when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and considered what manner of greeting this was.

30 Then the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.

31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name JESUS.

32 He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David.

33 And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end."

34 Then Mary said to the angel, "How can this be, since I do not know a man?"

35 And the angel answered and said to her, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.

36 Now indeed, Elizabeth your relative has also conceived a son in her old age; and this is now the sixth month for her who was called barren.

37 For with God nothing will be impossible."

38 Then Mary said, "Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word." And the angel departed from her.

This beautiful story is so well known, yet too often we pass over it too quickly or read it only once a year perhaps. There were many reasons why God chose Mary to be the human mother of His Son.

One of these reasons was obviously her beautiful faith in God.

Think of Mary's position. She was a young teenager probably. She had just been told that she would have a son for whom there would be no visible earthly father. In the eyes of the world, especially then, what would be her situation? What support would she have?

Mary was willing for anything because she believed the message she had received had come from God. Her first support came from God Himself. He was with her all the way.

Then we must see also how Joseph stood with her. He married her, and then when her child was born he acted as stepfather to her child. That would not be an easy situation. But Mary's quiet strong faith must have meant much to him too. They were a remarkable couple.

It would seem that Joseph may have passed away while Jesus was still in the home. But Mary's faith in God and in her son were also seen later in life. For example at the wedding feast in Cana of Galilee, she obviously believed that he could meet the situation, he could supply the need. She had faith in Christ right on through Calvary and the resurrection. No wonder God honoured her as He did in making her the mother of his Son.

What an asset in any home! First a believing mother who knew how to accept God's word, how to praise God, and how to accept God's will. What an example for us all! Alongside the mother was her husband, Joseph. His situation was unique, but God helped him to accept it because he too was a firm believer in God.

A believing wife and a loving God-honouring husband can face almost insurmountable difficulties together when they are in touch with God. Mary and Joseph did. So can we? Why not ask God today to help you stand together in Him? Of if you are single, pray for the families you know facing problems today.

31一切苦毒、惱恨、忿怒、嚷鬧、毀謗,並一切的惡毒(或作:陰毒),都當從你們中間除掉;

THE IDEAL CHRISTIAN HOME
Day 29

Bible Reading:

Ephesians 4:25-32

25 Therefore, putting away lying, " Let each one of you speak truth with his neighbor," for we are members of one another.

26 "Be angry, and do not sin": do not let the sun go down on your wrath, 27 nor give place to the devil.

28 Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need.

29 Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.

30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

31 Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice.

32 And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.

In the New Testament God has given us so many instructions regarding living the Christian life, especially in our homes. It is very easy for us to pass over these commandments without thinking of how they really apply to ourselves.

The Christian ideal for our homes and family life is in verse 32 of our reading. Here is one paraphrase: 'Become useful and helpful and kind to one another, tender-hearted, compassionate, understanding, and loving-hearted, forgiving one another readily and freely as God in Christ forgave you.' That is a very high standard, but it is possible through Christ.

Being kind means being unselfish as well as thoughtful and thankful. It is doing something extra which isn't required. It is showing appreciation for all that is done for us. Some wives have said, 'I have never been thanked for any of the hundreds of meals I've cooked for the family.' Being kind and thoughtful helps to create a warm emotional climate in the home to which others will respond.

Tender hearted means being sensitive to the weaknesses of others, a very great need in most families. It is so easy to be hard on others, isn't it? Yet in a Christian home surely we could expect love and tenderness - and even compliments!

Forgiving one another. There is often so much to forgive even in the best of us, isn't there? It is true in many families. Relationships can turn sour over the smallest incident and bitterness can show its ugly head all too soon. If only we could forgive each other more often and more quickly as God does for us it would make such a difference. But saying 'I'm sorry' is sometimes very difficult for many of us. Remember when God forgives he forgets. Do we?

Remember also that we don't have much time. These few years of family life together slip by so quickly. There is no 'replay' as a family, no re-run. It is now we need to act in a Christlike way. Can you make that your prayer today?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
THE CHRISTIAN HOME
Day 28
Bible Reading:
Ephesians 5:22 to 6:4
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
24 And those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.
1 Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted.
2 Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.
3 For if anyone thinks himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself.
4 But let each one examine his own work, and then he will have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another.
What are some of the signs which show that a home is a Christian one? Would anyone visiting your home know that Christ actually dwells in the people living there?
It would be easy to reply. Well, we have texts on our walls. We have Christian books and literature around everywhere. We say grace before our meals. But are those things the real evidences of Christ's presence? Or are they the by-products? How is the presence of Christ really seen in a home?
When Christ is in a home, salvation is there. Jesus made a very illuminating statement concerning the home of Zaccheus. Sitting in that man's home Christ said, 'Today salvation has come to this house.' (Luke 19:9)
A Christian home is where the members of the family have entered into a saving relationship with Christ. This may have happened after the marriage. In most cases, however, it begins before and Christ is recognised as the Head of the home. That is the ideal. Where a Christian marries a non-Christian, the home will never be what it could be until both partners find Christ.
A Christian home sees prayer being constantly offered. In Luke 24:30, Christ naturally prayed before they were to eat. It was like family worship, something that the whole family should participate in. As someone has said, 'The family that prays together stays together.'
When Christ is in a home, there will be real love for each other and for the Lord's people. Ephesians 5:25 speaks to husbands: 'Love your wives as Christ loved the church.' That is quite a standard. It also becomes a wonderful example. If the family sees the father's love for the mother, it will be easier for them to love each other in the same way.
When Christ is in the home, the home can be truly complete. How does your home measure up to God's instructions? Ask God to help you make it what He wants it to be.
列王紀上十六至十八章
重點: 以色列諸王的惡行;先知以利亞預言旱荒;撒勒法一寡婦供養以利亞;以利亞使寡婦之子復活;以利亞與巴力先知比試。
鑰節: 我已吩咐烏鴉在那裡供養你。……我已吩咐那裡的一個寡婦供養你。(十七4、9)
內容:
在以色列墮落至黑暗的時候,神興起先知來。以利亞是神興起的一位至重要的先知,也是先知的代表。他一出現,就是奉神的名向亞哈宣告他的禱告與雨露連在一起。
神知道祂僕人因這宣告所要遭受的迫害,便吩咐他藏在約但河東邊的基立溪旁。他如何解決生活呢?神說:「你要喝那溪裡的水,我已吩咐烏鴉在那裡供養你。」這是神給他僕人信心的功課。溪水可以信靠,饞嘴的烏鴉怎靠得住呢?但神既如此吩咐,他就如此行。
此後,神又對他說:「你起身往西頓的撒勒法去,住在那裡;我已吩咐那裡的一個寡婦供養你。」這寡婦非富寡婦,乃是身無一物的窮寡婦,只有最後一餐的小糧食。
現今全球經濟不景,失業嚴重,教會、機構、個人都感生活艱難。不少人期望神蹟出現,有富有的基督徒奉獻,以解困境。然而神用以供應先知生活的卻是一個極窮的寡婦。這樣看來,以利亞與那窮寡婦都在操練信心,相信神的,一切生活問題就解決了。
神在你身上有何工作?-數算主恩
腓立比書四章6-7節
麥美詩
「應當一無掛慮,只要凡事藉著禱告、祈求、和感謝,將你們所要的告訴神。神所賜出人意外的平安,必在基督耶穌裡保守你們的心懷意念。」
在這星期,我們會探討一個專題:神在你的生命中有甚麼工作?我們大部份人都不常數算神的恩典;也因為我們沒有這感恩的習慣,我們的屬靈敏銳力也會因而降低。我們會將我們的遭遇看作是偶然的,是機緣巧合的,是因為我們的個人努力而達成的;在其中我們看不到神施恩的手。然而,聖經卻告訴我們,我們是帶著聖靈的印記的,當我們透過聖靈的眼光來審視生命,我們便看到神奇妙的工作。
讓我們問自己三個問題,從三種不同的角度來發現神在我們身上的作為。今天,我們將思考第一個問題:在這一星期中,神如何透過應允你的禱告,並賜福給你,以在你的生命中工作?當我嘗試在生活中體驗這問題時,便立時發現神的確應允了我許多的祈禱!起初我想,也許這星期神特別賜福給我吧!然後,奇妙的是:第二個星期、第三個星期也是如此...
當神在你的生命中,每一個星期都是那麼的美好;神在我們生命所作的,遠超過應允禱告,祂更賜福如春雨。如果你的丈夫給你送花,你會很為意;但你是否注意到神正不斷以愛觸摸你的生命?當你看到閃電劃破長空、絢麗的彩虹高掛天空,你是否察覺這是造物主給你心靈的體驗?讓你的心靈向神唱出感恩的歌聲,湧流靈裡深處的愛情。
讀經:
約翰壹書一章5節至二章2節
5神就是光,在他毫無黑暗。這是我們從主所聽見、又報給你們的信息。
6我們若說是與神相交,卻仍在黑暗裡行,就是說謊話,不行真理了。
7我們若在光明中行,如同神在光明中,就彼此相交,他兒子耶穌的血也洗淨我們一切的罪。
8我們若說自己無罪,便是自欺,真理不在我們心裡了。
9我們若認自己的罪,神是信實的,是公義的,必要赦免我們的罪,洗淨我們一切的不義。
10我們若說自己沒有犯過罪,便是以神為說謊的,他的道也不在我們心裡了。
1我小子們哪,我將這些話寫給你們,是要叫你們不犯罪。若有人犯罪,在父那裡我們有一位中保,就是那義者耶穌基督。
2他為我們的罪作了挽回祭,不是單為我們的罪,也是為普天下人的罪。
如果在神豐盛的恩典下,我們仍然失敗跌倒,那該怎麼辦呢?這些經歷在我們身上不難見到,且常常發生。
神早有預備。我們犯罪時,總有一位辯護者代表我們來到神的面前求情。留意第1節說,神仍是我們的父,縱使我們犯罪跌倒,傷透祂的心,但祂與我們的關係不會改變。
這在地上的家庭裡可以清楚看到,孩子們常常做很多錯事,但他們仍是我們的孩子。做錯了事要去處理,但父母與兒女的關係不會因此就改變。
英文的新國際譯本將第1節翻譯為:「若有人犯罪,那義者耶穌基督將會代表我們向父神申訴。」
我們為何需要基督為我們申訴?因為那惡者撒但在神面前控訴我們,要神定我們的罪,將我們處死。但神的兒子卻會代表我們申訴說:「父啊,他是我們的兒女,我已經為他的罪受了刑罰,他的罪債已經還清了。」
如此,撒但的指控便宣告無效,我們的罪便蒙神赦免了。神竟然為我們預備了如此完全的救贖,實在令我們深深感恩和謙卑。基督已經在各各他山上,為我們作成這一切。我們還有甚麼缺欠呢?基督是我們的中保、代求者和辯護者。多麼完美的救贖啊!
反思:
當我們往後望,看見基督為我們受死,因而得著信心。
當我們往上望,看見基督為我們求情,因而得著確據。
當我們往前望,看見基督要為我們再來,因而得著盼望。
我們還有甚麼缺欠呢?
GREAT WORDS OF THE GOSPEL : INTERCESSION
Day 27
Bible Reading:
1 John 1:5 to 2:2
5 This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.
6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.
7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.
1 My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.
2 And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world.
CHRIST OUR ADVOCATE
What happens if in spite of all God's wonderful provision for us, we fail and fall? We can do that all too easily, can't we?
God has provided for that event as well. If we do sin, we have an Advocate who takes up our case with our Father. Notice that verse1 says God is still our Father. He does not alter our relationship with Himself, even though our sin grieves Him.
This is easily illustrated in an earthly family. Our children did many things which were wrong, but they were still our children. What they did had to be dealt with but our relationship to them did not alter.
Notice how the N.I.V. translates this first verse. 'If anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense - Jesus Christ, the Righteous One.'
Why do we need Christ to speak for us? Because we have an adversary, an accuser, Satan itself. It accuses us to God and demands our death. But God's Son says, 'Father, that is one of our children. I died to pay for that one's sin. It is already paid for.'
Satan is defeated and we are forgiven. Isn't that both wonderful and yet humbling? What a complete redemption God has planned for us. Christ made it all possible by His death at Calvary. What more could we ask for? Christ is our Mediator, our Intercessor, our Advocate. How marvellously complete !
Worth remembering:
Faith looks back and sees Him dying for me.
Assurance looks up and sees Him pleading for me.
Hope looks ahead and sees Him coming for me.
What more could I ask for?
列王紀上十四至十五章
重點: 亞希雅的預言;耶羅波安死;羅波安的事蹟;亞比央作猶大王;亞撒作猶大王;拿答和巴沙的罪。
鑰節: 你的腳一進城,你兒子就必死了。以色列眾人必為他哀哭,將他葬埋。凡屬耶羅波安的人,惟有他得入墳墓;因為在耶羅波安的家中,只有他向耶和華以色列的神顯出善行。(十四12-13)
內容:
耶羅波安被神選立作以色列王,卻背棄神,神一再的警戒他。那時他的兒子亞比雅病了,便吩咐妻子改裝去猶大求問先知亞希雅。先知將神的話告訴她:「你的腳一進城,你兒子就必死了。」
在耶羅波安的家中,只有亞比雅向耶和華以色列的神顯出善行;為何疾病和死亡臨到他?這是我們常問而不得其解的問題。
人人皆有一死,然而死亡卻有分別,就是是否死在神的旨意和基督裡。「在主裡面而死的人有福了!」聖靈說:「是的,他們息了自己的勞苦,作工的果效也隨著他們。」(啟十四13)
亞比雅是死在神裡,是死在神的憐憫裡。一方面是藉著他的死喚醒他的父王悔改歸回神;一方面是叫他安然的、尊榮的進入墳墓,因為其餘的人,死在城中的必被狗吃,死在田野的必被空中的鳥吃。
對於基督徒來說,死亡更不是終局。保羅說:「情願離世與基督同在,因為這是好得無比的。」所以,「無論是生是死,總叫基督在我身上照常顯大。」(腓一23、20)
默想: 我們如何看「死亡」呢?
慷慨的心
腓立比書 4:14-23
「…我的神必照他榮耀的豐富,在基督耶穌裡使你們一切所需用的都充足。」(19節)
我們今天來到這封書信的最後一段說話了,保羅在這裡談論擁有活潑和喜樂充盈的基督徒生活最後一個因素 :就是慷慨的美德。保羅肯定了腓立比信徒的慷慨行為,因為他們因著基督的緣故,慷慨大方地將自己的金錢當作愛的禮物送贈給保羅,使他「充足「(18節)。保羅已充足有餘,他感激腓立比肢體的奉獻,因為他們為了保羅的需要,無私地擺上自己, 所以當保羅感謝他們的時候,再次向他們保證上帝同樣會滿足他們的需求。因此,他說:「我的神必照他榮耀的豐富,在基督耶穌裡使你們一切所需用的都充足」(19節)。
有時候,我們並不清楚自己是「需要」還是「想要」,只是求神供應我們的所求,例如:新車、新電腦、陽光假期、新裝等。
想得到東西並沒有錯,不過我們必須與神交流,攪清楚自己到底是「想要」還是「需要」,因為兩者之間的差異很大。上帝並不是一位吝嗇的父親,他樂於提供我們一切確實的「需要」,因為在他寶座後面所藏有的乃「極其豐富」,只是神是根據他那豐盛的慈愛而賞賜我們,因為他的富裕是無窮盡的,他應許給我們的祝福來自他那顆慷慨的心。
腓立比信徒在保羅的需要上顯示了慷慨之情,上帝對我們的需要也從不吝嗇,那我們對他人的需要又有多大方呢?讓我們同來做個快樂的施予者吧。
主啊,謝謝您將無盡的豐富傾倒在我身上。請讓我裡面有一顆仁慈的心,好在別人的需要上慷慨施予。阿們。
